This is a powder flask made by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, England during the 1800's. The flask measures 8" in length and 3 1/4" at it's widest part. The brass body of the flask has a reddish copper tint that remains over all but the high points of the flask. The flask features a highly detailed relief of a hunting dog within a wreath of wheat stalks. Above the dog's head are three birds hanging upside down. The charger has four different settings, from 2 to 2 3/4 drams. The top unscrews from the body to fill the flask with powder and is secured by three set screws. The top of the charged is stamped JAMES DIXON & SONS/SHEFFIELD. The powder cutoff works perfectly. This flask has survived in fantastic condition and would compliment any black powder muzzle loading weapons collection.
