This is a non excavated Confederate general service button from the Civil War era. This two piece coat size button has no damage but does show some honest wear. The face shows wear along the border and on the high points of those magical letters CSA. The letters are lined. The back mark on this one is Superior Quality, an English wartime manufacture. These buttons were intended to be used on Confederate enlisted uniforms. The back of the button shows some wear and has a mustard yellow patina. The shank is straight as an arrow. This is a good looking button, and it's about the only Civil War artifact you're gonna find with CSA on it that doesn't cost thousands of dollars! The book by Alpheus Albert titled "Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons" shows an example of this button on page 367, CS 81. Here's a chance to own a guaranteed Confederate artifact with the CSA letters without breaking the bank.
