Second pattern World War II gas casualty first aid kit. This version came out during 1943 and was a follow up to the yellow with red markings first pattern kit. After the gas attacks experienced during WWI, it was believed that chemical weapons would be used during WWII. These kits were issued on a 1:25 ratio, one kit per twenty five soldiers. They were normally mounted in a vehicle where they were easily accessible. An instruction sheet was glued to the inside of the lid that acted as a description and inventory list also. Unfortunately this one is missing the sheet. The kit is empty, but the metal case is in great condition. The lettering is very legible and the majority of the OD green paint is still there. Here's a chance to own a very unique part of WWII history.
