This is a wooden keg used to store gunpowder from the mid 1900's period. The keg is made up of 16 wooden staves with four metal bands. One end of the keg has a hole to pour the powder from, with a cork plug in the hole. The other end has a complete paper label on it. The label is undamaged and clearly identifies this one as being sold by the Hazard Powder Company of Hazardville, Connecticut. The keg, measuring 6" tall and 4" across, will look great with a Kentucky long rifle or flintlock pistol display.
