This book was written by Richard I. Lester, published in 1975 by the University Press of Virginia, the narrative is 199 pages and is illustrated with black and white photos and drawings. The original manuscript for this book was written in England between 1958 and 1961. Previously published works dealing with the finance and purchase operations of the Confederacy in Europe have usually concentrated on one or two aspects of this of this subject. Some centered their story on the workings of "King Cotton", while others have considered the Confederate purchasing agents and their trials and conflicts both with agents of the US and among themselves. The primary objective of this book is to present, insofar as possible, while making maximum use of British sources, an analysis of Confederate finance and purchasing operations in Great Britain. This hard back book is in very good condition, but does not have a dust jacket.
