This is a non excavated Eagle Infantry button from the Civil War period. This two piece button is of cuff size and has an American eagle on the face. The back mark is from the WATERBURY BUTTON CO. The face is dent free, no mars or blemishes. The eagle is facing to the right, clutching a laurel branch in the right talon and three arrows in the left talon. In the center of the eagle is a shield with the letter I in the center. The majority of the gilt remains, being worn off in the raised areas of the eagle. The shank is still with this one, but is slightly bent to the side.
