1800's signal cannon on a naval gun carriage. This one comes out of the Chattanooga, Tennessee area with verbal history of being used on the Tennessee river during the civil war. The brass barrel measures 16 3/4" long, is 2 3/8" across the muzzle and has a 1 1/8" bore. I do not believe this to be the original carriage, but a replacement from the early 1900's. The naval type gun carriage measures 9 5/8" long, 4 5/8" wide and 5 3/8" tall from the top of the trunnion caps to the bottom. The wooden wheels are 2 1/4" across and rotate freely. The barrel is not steel lined and is not intended to fire projectiles. However, a small charge of black powder and this one still performs it's intended function quite well, making a big BOOM! This one will require special shipping considerations.
