The United Spanish War Veterans organization was the result of three large Span-Am veterans groups merging in 1904. It's members were veterans of the Spanish American War, Philippine American War and the China Relief Expedition. This USWV medal is a complimentary badge for veterans attending the 28th Annual Encampment held at The Dalles, Oregon. The badge is 4 1/2" tall, with the hanger being 2" wide. The hanger is made to accept a small cardboard or paper insert with the wearers name on it. Suspended below the hanger is a red ribbon with 28th ANNUAL/ENCAMPMENT/U.S.W.V./DEPT. OF OREGON/THE DALLES/93 in gold printed on it. Suspended from the ribbon is the United Spanish War Veterans emblem of a cross with a disc centered in the middle. The ribbon is in very good condition, having no splits, rips or frays. There is no maker mark on the back of this one. This is a harder USWV badge to come by, and will make a great addition to your USWV reunion collection.
