The Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was organized in 1883 and endorsed by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in 1884. This is an encampment badge from the 55th Annual Encampment of the Kansas Department Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. This encampment was held in Kansas City, Kansas from 6-9 May, 1935. The badge is 4 5/8" tall, with the header being 2" wide. The header is simple in design, with a piece of cardboard inserted that reads S. of U. V. AUX. The red, white and blue ribbon with gold lettering is in very good condition and still has vibrant colors. There is no badge suspended from the ribbon. The ribbon has a GAR members badge printed on it, with the encampment information below it. This is an excellent example of an Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War encampment badge from the early 1900's, and will go well with any GAR or Auxiliary collection.
