The Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was organized in 1883 and endorsed by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in 1884. This is a membership medal that is worn by members of the AUCWV. The medal is 3" tall, with the broach being 1 1/2" wide. The broach has the raised wording of AUXILIARY TO/SONS OF UNION VETERANS/OF THE CIVIL WAR. The red white and blue ribbon is in very good condition and still has vibrant colors. The medallion suspended from the ribbon has a cross with crossed cannons. In the center of the medallion is a disc with AUXILIARY TO SONS OF UNION VETERANS OF THE CIVIL WAR in an arc and the date of 1883 at the bottom. This is an excellent example of an Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War membership medal from the early 1900's, and will go well with any GAR or Auxiliary collection.
