Indian Wars Period Color Bearer Flag Sling

This is a US color bearer's flag sling from the Indian Wars period. The single strap flag carrier is made of black leather that measure 1 3/4" wide. The sling is adjustable by use of a brass frame buckle. The leather cup that supports the flag is made of the same leather. It is attached to the sling by use of one iron rivet and stitching. The leather is still pretty pliable, shows honest wear but is not heavily crazed. There are a couple of places where the leather is torn, both sides where the sling joins the cup and a spot just above the frame buckle. There isn't much wear to the sling, just the places where the sling is torn, likely caused from being folded and stored that way for many years. Though it does have some damage, this would still look good in your Indian Wars collection.
