This is a Grand Army of the Republic hat badge with the letter GAR in the center of the wreath. The wreath is 2 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" tall. The badge has great eye appeal, with the gilt still remaining on the majority of the wreath. In the center of the wreath are the letters GAR, representing the Grand Army of the Republic. The badge is retained by four pins soldered on the back of the badge. All soldered joints are strong. The GAR letters are silver plated. The badge displays great on it's own, but would really add some sizzle to a veterans slouch hat!
