This is a leather ammunition belt with leather loops for pistol cartridges and a revolver holster. The belt does not have a size stamped into it, but measures 34" in length and is 3" wide. One end of the belt has a buckle that is nickel plated, to attach the adjustable free end to. The majority of the plating has worn off the buckle though. There are thirty one leather cartridge loops. Fifteen loops appear to be for rifle cartridges, the other 16 for a pistol. None of the loops are damaged, and all are still securely mounted to the belt. There are no holes, rips or tears on the belt. The belt is retailer stamped V.L. & A./SPECIAL/CHICAGO on the adjustment strap. This one comes with a double strap holster. The holster measures 10 1/4" in length and 5" at the widest point. There are no rivets used in the construction of the holster, everything is stitched together. All stitching remains strong and unbroken, however the lower strap on the holster is broken. It is stamped V.L. & A./CHICAGO as well. On the reverse of the holster are the stamps 7 and 6 1/2. V.L. & A. was the Von Lengerke & Antoinne partnership that was formed in 1891 in Chicago, Illinois. They became a prominent Sporting Goods retailer in downtown Chicago. They remained in business until 1938, when they were bought by their competitors Abercrombie & Fitch. The belt and holster remain in good condition and could still be worn today. It still displays great, and will add some pop to your six gun collection!
