USWV Auxiliary Department of Kansas President's Letter Dated 1 July, 1944

This is a type written letter from the incoming President of the Department of Kansas Auxiliary of the United Spanish War Veterans dated 1 July, 1944. The new President, a lady named Anne Elson, address several issues that apparently important to her. First she expresses her best wishes to each member of the organization. Second she askes six questions of the department members to ensure maximum participation throughout the department. She mentions the upcoming national convention of the USWV Auxiliary and programs that need to be worked on prior to it. She ends the letter with an announcement of the death of a past National President of the USWV Auxiliary. These organizations were a very popular and patriotic way to show the women's support to the armed services, beginning with the Ladies of the GAR and continuing on through the Spanish American War period. The letter is in very good condition, the only flaw are the creases where it has been folded in an envelope for decades.
