This is a group of seven United Spanish War Veteran reunion ribbons. The USWV was an organization made up of veterans from the Spanish American War, the Philippine Insurrection and the Boxer Rebellion, this merger occurred in 1904. These reunion ribbons are all named to Bert R. Smith of Company H, 22nd Kansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The 22nd Kansas was one of four volunteer infantry regiments raised when the US declared war with Spain. The 22nd, like many other volunteer regiments raised then, did not leave the US before the war ended. They spent four months training at Camp Alger near Falls Church, Virginia and at Camp Meade near Middletown, Pennsylvania. The reunion ribbons are from the Department of Kansas USWV and all are complete with header with cardboard name plate and red and yellow or red and white ribbon. They are from the 29th, 32nd, 33rd and 34th annual encampments, the 25th Silver Jubilee encampment and two ribbons from the state convention, 41st department encampment. One of the state convention ribbons has his wife's name, Nora Smith from Auxiliary No 26, on the name plate. All the ribbons are in very good condition, no tears, rips, stains or fading. These USWV reunion ribbons will make a great addition to any Spanish American War collection, especially if it's from Kansas.
