This is a steel dipper manufactured for the United States Quartermaster Corps of the US Army and used during World War I. The dipper/ladle/pot is made of steel with a steel handle. It measures 3 1/2" high, 4 1/4" across the bottom, 5 1/2" across the top and the handle is 7" long. All the original finish is gone, and the exposed metal has taken on a dark brown patina. It is marked in raised lettering in three lines "U.S.Q.M.C./N.E. & ST. Co/56". There are several small dents on the bottom and sides of the dipper. This will make an excellent addition to any WWI field display.
