This is a pinback promoting the 19th Annual State Reunion for the Grand Army of the Republic Department of Kansas held 22 - 27 September, 1902 in Wichita, Kansas. The pinback measures 1 3/4" across and was manufactured by the Baltimore badge and Novelty Company. It depicts a Union and Confederate soldier in full uniform with rifles shaking hands in the center of the button. Between the soldiers in the background is an American flag flying from a flag pole with a faint camp scene below it. In an arc across the top it is written "19th ANNUAL STATE REUNION" and at the bottom "WITICHA, KAN. SEPT. 22nd-27th, 1902. The Kansas state flower, the sunflower, fills in the space between the two arcs. The button has an antique white background color that really makes the other detail stand out. This pinback shows some age, but still displays well. Here's a great opportunity to pick up another Kansas GAR reunion piece for your GAR collection.
