The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War was organized in 1885 and endorsed by the Grand Army of the Republic in 1900. This is a membership medal that is worn by members of the DUCWV. The medal is 3" tall, with the broach being 1 3/8" wide. The broach has the letters FCL, standing for fraternity, charity and loyalty. The red white and blue ribbon is in very good condition and still has vibrant colors. The medallion suspended from the ribbon has DAUGHTERS of UNION VETERANS of the CIVIL WAR 1861-1865 around the outer perimeter. In the center are the letters DUV intertwined, with laurel branches on either side of the letters. This is an excellent example of a Daughters of Union Veterans membership medal from the mid 1900's, and will go well with any DUVCW collection.
