The face of the button depicts a deer poised to run on a stippled back ground. The button has been nickel plated, with the majority of the plating remaining. Hammond Turner & Sons were in business in Birmingham, England from 1823 through 1865. They were known for their very fine sporting buttons from the 1840 to 1850 period. The shank is still reporting for duty, but is leaning slightly to one side. This is a nice piece to add to your button collection.
