This is a US Model 1936 pistol belt used during World War II. The Khaki web belt measures 42" when fully let out, accommodating up to a 40" waist. There weren't to many fat Infantrymen back then! This one was manufactured after mid 1942, as the keepers are steel instead of brass. The belt has no stains, shows honest wear and all the eyelets are present. Some of them do have some verdigris, but that can cleaned up easily enough. It has a very distinct US stamp to the left of the ammo pouch snap. The maker mark is stamped on the inside of the belt just above the snap, and reads R.M.CO/1942. It appears this belt has been modified to wear with a .38 caliber pistol. A section of ammunition loops has been sewn onto the belt to hold 20 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition. This is a nice example of a Model 1936 pistol belt that saw service though the Korean War.
