This is a two piece Maryland State seal button from the Indian Wars period. The back mark is stamped EXTRA QUALITY. The two piece domed button is in very good condition. The majority of the gilt remains, but has taken on a dull gold patina except for the rim, which is still bright. The shank is present and stands straight and tall. This is a nice piece for your Maryland State Guard/Militia uniform that's missing a button!
