This is a non excavated military style button from the Indian Wars period. This two piece button is cuff size and has an eagle with banner, an American flag flying from a standard held by a soldier with drawn saber, flanked by a small building and steamship on the right side and another item I can't make out on the left on the face. The background on the face of the button is lined. The back mark is M.C. Lilley & CO. COLUMBUS O. The face is dent free, no mars or blemishes. The button is subdued and has a nice even chocolate patina. The shank is all still present and straight. I believe this is a military academy button from the late 1800's, but have not been able to positively identify it as yet.
