This is a US Model 1936 Musette bag used during World War II. It's official designation was Bag, Canvas, Field, M1936, but was more commonly known as a musette bag. It's lightweight construction and ease of use made it a favorite among soldiers, especially over the Model 1928 Haversack. It can be seen pictured in the European and Pacific theaters, carried by Army, Marine and even Navy personnel. It is divided into two compartments, one closed by a snap or button, the other covered by a flap that is kept closed by two small straps with metal tabs and two short straps with buckles. There is also a small cargo pocket on the left side, closed with a snap or button. Two short straps sewn into the top rear of the bag could be used to connect the bag to the M1936 combat suspenders. They were also used with an adjustable shoulder strap equipped with D rings. This one is in solid but well used condition. The stitching is strong, all buckles and tabs are still present. The carrying strap is also in good, but well used condition. The U.S. stamp is still very visible on the outer flap. The inside of the flap is ink stamped Atlantic Products Corp./1943. You can use this in practically any US WWII display you can think of.
